In honour of Black History month and my friend, the late Honourable Lincoln Alexander (Linc) I”m happy to say my painting called “Fields of Hope” was accepted into Scarborough Arts exhibition called “Commemorate.” Bluffs Gallery invited members and non-members to submit visual art pieces that commemorate and honour the legacy of black Canadians, past and present, the African Diaspora, and its culture and traditions. Lincoln was a Canadian politician and statesman who not only served as a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons, but the first Black Canadian MP. Later he went on to serve as the federal Minister of Labour and later as the 24th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, from 1985 to 1991. Not only do I get to create art but also the opportunity to be able to help keep his memory alive by honouring and celebrating his life through my work as an artist. Nobody would have been more proud than Linc and I hope to serve his memory well by being part of this very special exhibition.
